Project description
Guadalix Genera is a citizen-led energy community based in Guadalix de la Sierra (Madrid), bringing together residents, SMEs and the municipality to develop a locally controlled, sustainable energy system. The initiative focuses on deploying collective photovoltaic installations with battery storage on public buildings, alongside the creation of a Local Energy Market that enables peer-to-peer energy exchange between members. Its governance is based on open, voluntary participation, with a strong emphasis on social inclusion, circular economy principles and gender equality.
- Challenges addressed
Guadalix Genera addresses key challenges such as achieving energy sovereignty in an environmentally sensitive area, reducing energy costs for citizens and businesses, and empowering the local community to play an active role in the energy transition.
- Technology
The initiative relies on solar technologies combined with battery storage solutions to strengthen energy sovereignty and reduce costs.
- Support received through CEAH
With the support of CEAH technical assistance, the project is currently entering a crucial scaling phase, moving from design to implementation of its first renewable installations while expanding membership and operational capacity. This includes:
1. Digitalisation of Onboarding and User Management
This workstream streamlines membership processes to support the growth of the community through automation and clear protocols. Key deliverables include:
- A Member Management Protocol, providing a structured manual for user onboarding and administrative processes
- A Digital Contractual Suite, offering standardised legal templates for membership and energy sharing, adapted for digital signature
2. Communication and Outreach (“Guadalix Genera”)
Improves communication and simplifies technical concepts to increase awareness and participation among citizens and SMEs. Key deliverables include:
- A Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document, providing clear and accessible explanations of the project
- A Public Engagement Flyer, summarising participation conditions, costs, and benefits
- A “Guadalix Genera” Video, supporting promotion and dissemination through a visual narrative
3. Community Engagement and Event Coordination
Strengthens community involvement and a sense of ownership through the organisation of a local participatory event. Key deliverable includes:
